Glam Wars, the last interview.

TheUnholyWitch and CainDavis are the owners of GlamWars, a modeling competition that started earlier this year with 20 models. Recently, Glam Wars teamed up with MrDerulo to host The Gala, which was hosted by creator Yalla. The awards was packed with people who attended to appreciate people who doesn’t get appreciation everyday through art and modeling. In this interview, TheUnholyWitch opens up about the making of Glam Wars, The Gala and future plans.

Note: On July 24, 2018, due to IMVU’s recent ban on *hiressnap and #hiresnobg, TheUnholyWitch decided to cancel Glam Wars, with a notice published in their IMVU group and Instagram. However, this interview was conducted before then.

CAN YOU GIVE US SOME INSIGHT TO WHAT GLAM WARS IS? “Glam Wars is a modeling competition. We try to show that anyone can be truly glamorous, no matter what their experience level is.”

HOW MANY MODELS DO YOU HAVE CURRENTLY HAVE?

“Well, we started with 20, but we are now going into Round 4. So, now have 14. Some have been eliminated while others had to leave the competition due to real life.”

WHAT MAKES GLAM WARS DIFFERENT? “Well, there are tons of competitions out there, and all of them are unique in their own way. Because of that, it can difficult to be different. However, I think that Glam Wars is unique because we interact with our models a lot. I tried to make sure I have met everyone that made it into the cycle. We also send out messages to them for updates rather than just having them check the group. We support and help our models even outside the competition. I have group chats with models to talk about life, and I think it helps to be involved with them.”

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR WHEN YOU DETERMINE A WINNER?

“Well, when the time comes to pick our winner. We are very fair. We average scores out to make sure there are no biased winners. We will mainly be looking at who has improved the most throughout the competition and who has been the most positive about it. We want our models to learn and grow throughout their experience.”

WHO’S IDEA WAS THE GALA? “MrDerulo had contacted me and my co-owner (Cain Davis) about collabing on an event together and we all figured it out from there; but it was mainly Enews! and Mr Derulo.”

WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THE GALA? “The primary purpose was to show appreciation for people who are passionate about art, and modeling, but also to promote Glam Wars."

WHAT TYPE OF ART AND MODELS WERE FEATURED IN THE EVENT? “We showed our love for the art of avant-garde fashion by having it be the dress code. We also had creators and editors help take part in the event to help out. For models, we connected with a lot of them and talked to them about Glam Wars and their experiences in the modeling industry.”

WHAT CREATORS TOOK PART? “We had Stella Fire designing the carpet, we had Yalla hosting and doing giveaways, many creators showed up as guests, or showed their support on instagram.”

WHAT MADE THE GALA DIFFERENT TO OTHER FORMAL EVENTS? “I don't mean to group other formal events together, but a lot of them don't get too involved with their audience. We had giveaways and speeches. I talked to so many people at the event and got so many questions about Glam Wars. I think the main thing that came out of the Gala was the communication, and the ability to meet new people."

HOW MANY PEOPLE ATTENDED THE EVENT? “Oh gosh I would say at least 30 at a time, or so, people were coming in and out. And, with the carpet being in a separate chat room, we had tons of guests coming to both.”

WHAT MADE YOU DO THE EVENT IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS? “One of the main reasons was so that we could fit more people in without crashing. Another reason is that the carpet room was designed by Stella Fire of Stellar Ink, while the event room was Mr. Derulo and his team.”

WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU HOPE PEOPLE LEARNED FROM ATTENDING THE GALA? “That we aren't just another modeling competition to be forgotten. Glam Wars has worked extremely hard for months to grow. We want to gain more people to interact with. Not only gaining that, we also want people to remember who we honored and why we did it. There are so many creators, editors, models, and more people out there that deserve recognition, and that's a huge thing with the Gala is showing that we actually appreciate them and their hard work.”

WOULD YOU HAVE ANOTHER GALA? “We haven’t discussed another Gala yet, but I would love to do more to spread positivity and appreciation for others. Since our last gala was in Puerto Vallarta (a Pacific island of Mexico), I would like to stay in an area that is warm and beautiful.”

ANY FUTURE COLLABS?

“Once Cain is in a good real-life state to work on things, we will be opening a modeling school called Glam Wars 101, which I mentioned at the Gala. It will be there to help new or experienced models improve and learn new skills. As far as events and collabs go, I would love to talk to Derulo about another event in the future. We currently don't have any planned, but I have had a few people in mind to contact when Cain and I can discuss it.”
