Prop Shop for Streamers – Tamekah
Tamekah, known as Meka to her friends, is trying to make a name for herself on IMVU with the ultimate prop shop. She targets all streamers and scene makers, with products you’d find cluttered around your home in real life. Streamers and IG users can use these products in their homes and various scenes, to enhance their pictures. Now, there aren’t many creators who focus on props alone, so her shop is quite exciting for those who are planning to stream.
Meka initially decided to create when she was searching for products to add to her scene; she was unable to find what she wanted in shop, and those that she did find were of poor quality. This was the moment she realized that she should create the products she wants, the way she wants them. After spending long days practicing, she managed to get into her creating groove within few months. She was even surprised to see people taking interest and buying from her during this period. This motivated her to continue.
Now, as a more established creator, Meka has set her sights on becoming a pro creator. She is now ready to start bringing new items to the table and has hopes for doing a collaboration with room creators; though she is not sure who she would like to do a collab with at the moment, she is keeping her options open waiting for the perfect opportunity.
Meka's current project includes Halloween chill rooms with props to match as well as some great costumes. She is also planning for November already, with products like sports TVs and food; perfect for those big match days, and just chilling. There is something for everyone to look forward to as she continues to provide new products. When asked about future goals, Meka stated that she hopes to be everyone's “go-to” creator." Watching people benefit from her hard work and seeing the products on stream has helped Meka feel even more confident in herself and her craft, while driving her to continue with something she feels passionate about.
What sets Meka apart from all the other creators on IMVU? Besides her providing something new that you don’t see around much, Meka says that she has a keen eye for details and if the texture looks stretched she will work overtime to fix it properly. If a texture cannot be fixed she scraps the product all together stating, "A lot of so-called furniture creators simply derive from other creators without touching the textures, while overcharging people for the items found cheaper. For example, if I make a black broom and a pro creator derives from it, leaving the product the exact same, and only changing the icon. What is the point?" In that sense, she feels that many creators are often lazy and take the easy path towards getting sales, while taking away from creators that put in hard work, time and energy into making a product. She feels that people who do this should be penalized as they cheat the system. Although there are many creators who she feels lack in creativity, there are many who she looks up to, including her husband Noreaga, JayDub and Phatty.
Meka’s advice to all creators are,
"Whatever you do, be original. Don't half-step. Give it your best. Grind. Stay hungry and focused - you'll achieve your goal. I'm not pro yet, but I feel like I've achieved mine. Enough people come to me and tell me how much they look forward to me dropping something new."
