Career Spotlight – Zonnique
Zonnique (IMVU: Guest_zonniqvu) is an IMVU roleplay artist. She sings and models, and when she isn’t roleplaying, she edits and hangs out with her friends. She is currently single, and it seems she may be for a while, as she’s “too busy for men” – she’s definitely sounding like a career woman (You go girl!). This month, Verve X Magazine have interviewed her to find out a little more about how she found her way to the roleplaying music industry on IMVU, what changes she wishes upon the community, and what helpful tips she can share on getting started as a roleplay artist!
Zonnique started out on IMVU as a standard user, like each and every one of us, until she stumbled across a Nicki Minaj roleplay account on her feed. The similarities between the avatar and the celebrity caught her attention, impressively, that she delved deeper, researching into the industry. She was so intrigued, that she, too, wanted the experience. However, there came the first challenge; choosing the artist to roleplay. Choosing a popular artist that was already being roleplayed on IMVU was a big no-no for her, so she went to her drawing board. Now, why Zonnique? Our VU star mentioned, “She was in the show that I watched, and was also a singer; so I thought she was the perfect person to roleplay.”
Zonnique initially signed with Parkwood but progressed successfully after signing with Empire Records. When asked about her experience, she explained, that the members of Empire are very supportive and honest about the work she puts out, while Yeezhi also offers her ideas to pursue and advice on improvements. She described it as,
“Challenging at times, but also fun if you’re surrounded with the right people,”
Zonnique is very proud of her team, as she continued to commend the talent-filled within Empire Records.
Interested in catching Zonnique in her element? This passionate singer is often working, a majority of the week, on projects –including a song she is currently working on - and drawing up ideas for potential new projects for the future. Sunday seems to be her only rest day!
IF YOU COULD IMPROVE ONE THING ABOUT IMVU’S MUSIC INDUSTRY, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY? "A lot of people feel they have to be nominated [for award shows], and if they aren’t, they get mad. Also, some people hosting the award shows aren’t really fair with the nominations; they just nominate the same people who are always getting nominated. I just wish they would really look into who’s really working hard."

If so, Zonnique left us with some hot tips, "Think wisely about who you are going to be roleplaying. Get a mesh head from a good creator. Surround yourself with good people. Don’t let it get to your head. And, have fun!"
