The hardest part of role-playing

When children are seen on IMVU, they’re often seen in a light-hearted fashion. Pictures of smiling, playing, cheering, dancing, and fun children are up and down our IMVU Stream. However, there’s a sad side to the life of a role-playing child on IMVU: bullying from adult peers. Often times, people find it amusing and entertaining to bully kids on IMVU, making them feel less of a person based solely upon how they play the game. Children from all different walks of life, ages, races, and backgrounds find it especially fulfilling to role-play as their kid self. This joy comes with the price of being misunderstood by their friends, made fun of, belittled, and isolated. It is easy to feel like you should censor or shield yourself in order to avoid that feeling.

But let’s be real: where’s the fun in that? Where’s the fun in conforming to what everyone else thinks YOU should be doing? IMVU serves a purpose to everyone; for some it’s a source of income, for some it’s a source of escape (from boredom, lol), but for some, it’s truly just a source for fun. Everyone has their own way finding that happiness here. Some people role-play as artists, others as celebrities, and some people channel their inner childlike self and give IMVU a humane atmosphere. IMVU children are real people as well as anyone else, and we all deserve to be treated as that.

HOW TO REMAIN CONFIDENT DURING THE HARDEST TIMES?

  • Know who your REAL friends are. They’re the ones who’ll understand and let you be great.

  • Don’t be afraid to speak up and let your voice be heard. Just because you’re small, doesn’t mean you’re invisible.

  • Be mindful of who you call ‘family’, too. Some are just out to belittle those who are bold enough to be themselves.

  • Ignore the adversity. At the end of the day, if you are happy with who you are and still striving to be better tomorrow, you’re already winning, love. Surround yourself with positive and good, caring people!

  • Stay shinin’, shinin’, shinin’, shinin’, yeahhhhh ♥
