Greek Hopping – When Will it Stop?
Greek hopping has became a huge issue within the Greek community lately. We thought we would ask a few different Greek Organisations what their thoughts on Greek Hopping was, and how they are going to combat the growing problem. Read on to find out more!

What are your thoughts on Greek Hopping?
Personally I wouldn’t mind it, people have set standards on what they look forward to within the Greek community and if my sorority doesn’t do it for them, they are able to leave.
What do you believe we can do as a whole to alleviate this issue?
I don’t think there is anything you can do once someone has their mind made up, but while they are thinking about leaving you can try your best to make your Org more comfy for them
What have you done to protect your organization from this growing epidemic?
My org is an upcoming org. So, we haven’t had any issues yet.
Would you like to add any other epidemics that need to be addressed in the upcoming future?
Yes, to Help other greeks, as far as customs, for example, some people don’t like to share creators, and sometimes it becomes a hassle. As far as Greek drama I feel that will never stop but that’s another issue.

What are your thoughts on Greek Hopping?
It is disrespectful. I don't see the reason for it. People should be placed on a list, and that list should be passed to other founders so that they know a particular person is an organization hopper.
What do you believe we can do as a whole to alleviate this issue?

What have you done to protect your organization from this growing epidemic?
Research applicants by asking previous founders the reason they left or were let go.
Would you like to add any other epidemics that need to be addressed in the upcoming future?
Yes, Stealing greek gear from other organizations.

What are your thoughts on Greek Hopping?
I believe that it’s unfair to those who are loyal to the organization. They have taken the time to bond with that individual. For them to come in, waste time, and then jump to somewhere else.
What do you believe we can do as a whole to alleviate this issue?
Monthly meetings and morale-boosting.
What have you done to protect your organization from this growing epidemic?
Revolving door policy.
Would you like to add any other epidemics that need to be addressed in the upcoming future?
Yes, the misrepresentation of "greek unity" and the totalitarianism rule of certain greek leaders.

What are your thoughts on Greek Hopping?
I don't agree with it, but at the same time, a person should feel comfortable with the organization that they are part of, and not feel threatened to the point they have to leave.
What do you believe we can do as a whole to alleviate this issue?
What we can do, is stop the drama that is happening in the greek community at the moment. Founders and organization leaders should have more respect for each other, and learn to listen. The communication has to be there for it to work.
What have you done to protect your organization from this growing epidemic?
Well, you have to; be firm, know what to say and when to say it. It’s not easy to run a sorority/or fraternity you have to learn to communicate with your members. I try to stay positive and show them that I am here to lead and uplift them not rip them down and make them feel like they no longer want to be there. Greek life is a family. You want to be treated the same way you treat others.

Drama Within the Greek Community.

What are your thoughts on Greek Hopping?
I feel like if you're going to leave an org to join another make sure it's a pretty GOOD reason for leaving. Or you'll look like you're hopping from one org to the other that's "poppin."
What do you believe we can do as a whole to alleviate this issue?
I believe we should make sure the inside of our organizations is SOLID; the same as we try to look on the outside.
What have you done to protect your organization from this growing epidemic?
I initially left my Org to start over because I felt my last Org was so negative and I refused to bring in anyone else to have them make up excuses to leave only to join another Org.
Would you like to add any other epidemics that need to be addressed in the upcoming future?
Yes, I feel like personal issues should be addressed in private and not in public. If you have a particular problem with someone take it up with them, not Instagram or Insta story.

What are your thoughts on Greek Hopping?
If you leave an Org due to not meshing well with the Org members, it's understandable. But, if you join orgs for other reasons, I feel it's a cowardly move.
What do you believe we can do as a whole to alleviate this issue?
Founders should talk to each other and get the history/backstories on members before allowing them in their Org's.
What have you done to protect your organization from this growing epidemic?
I reach out to founders and get the back stories on members before allowing them to join TPX.
