The Return of Mu Sigma Upsilon Zeta Chapter

One of the most active sororities in the Greek community disappeared for a year, but guess what?The lioness ladies of Mu Sigma Upsilon are back and revamped with a new name - VXM finds out why.

When was MSU originally founded and revamped?

Amiga: it was founded December 17, 2013 and revamped on May 18, 2016.

Were you both previously in MSU before the revamp?

Kasika: Yes, we're the original members. We're the founders, so, of course.

How has your experience in MSU changed from then and now?

Kasika: well, honestly, back then I must admit we had a hell of group of sisters; we were strong, but overtime when members wanted to be the "boss" and not actual sisters, things took its way down hill. But as of now, we have a group of women whose motivation for MSU is more than just a title and numbers; the energy and interaction is more assertive than it was back then.

Is that also the reason MSU disbanded?

Kasika: We really never disbanded; we just took a break mainly, a year off, due to rl situations interfering and us as the founders had to take care of that. We were also thinking the sisters we had were gonna help keep us strong while we were away, but that really didn’t go as planned. When we came back, we dropped majority of people and revamped ourselves to Zeta Mu Sigma Upsilon.

Did the name change since or is it still MSU?

Kasika: We still go by MSU, but since the revamp we mainly promote the zeta add-on.

Why was it important for you to add the Zeta?

Kasika: It shows more a distinctive outlook amongst what we stand for, we wanted to let everyone be acknowledge that "MSU" is still and will always remain here in the Greek community but coming back bigger and stronger than ever

Has MSU’s Values also changed since then?

Kasika: Our values are still the same but more strict as I may say, only because we're not wanting women to join for one reason; we are not here for show, we not here because we said hey let's have a sorority like everyone else. We actually took our time, money and energy into this so as far as that goes we want it to remain how we started it but with interest. I'd rather have a handful of loyal women, than 40+ in a group who's either inactive, in a clique or doesn't know how to be sisters.

What made MSU want to revamp?

Kasika: The decision was made after we took out the negativity and re-birthed MSU into a better environment; not necessarily saying we were bad to begin with, but our choices in whom we choose has changed, and we wanted to start out fresh.

What would you like your sorority to be remembered by?

Kasika: I'd like us to be remembered as not just another IMVU sorority. I don't want us to be mainstream like others, but to know that we actually took pride in what we do and showed the community we believe in hard work dedication and the term of true sisterhood

How do you plan on improving some of the problems you went through previously?

Amiga: Being more observing towards everyone, not giving so many chances if there was no improvement after the 2nd one. Some people seem to take kindness for weakness, so sometimes you just need to let people go no matter how hard it might seem at times.

How do you plan on keeping your sorority active?

Kasika: In order for us to be active we have to be active, but we do partake in sisterly activities every week or every other week; plan events; contain meetings, more participation, interaction and a lot of communication.

Where do you see yourselves in the next year?

Kasika: MSU has big plans coming soon within the next year; bigger and better is all i can say.

Does MSU have any events coming up?

Kasika: Not yet. We have some coming up but it'll be after we cross this line. We just had a Halloween event about a week or so ago.
