Gomez and Morticia Addams have a love story that is not only unique but is, also, something that we can all learn from. In our relationships, we tend to move past the “honeymoon phase” very quickly, causing the relationship to become more of a job than a union of love. The Addams’ have the type of love that is a bit unconventional but pure and oh so beautiful. If you have never seen the Addams Family, then I would recommend that you watch it so that you can see the definition of true love.
Living in a world without their beloved is a world in which they do not want to exist. Gomez’s support of Morticia is one of the contributing factors to their strong bond. Whether it involves her parenting skills or what shade of black she chose to wear that day, Gomez is always by her side, reassuring her that no matter what choice she has made, it is the perfect one. He, also, compliments her in a way that causes her cold heart to melt. Sadly, though, many women are not seeking that kind of affection from a mate - guys, take note here.
Gomez and Morticia have no qualms expressing how much they would love to spend eternity together, something that modern day men and women tend to stop doing once the honeymoon phase has passed. We stop telling our partners how much we love them and how much they mean to us, which begins the relationship’s downfall. We can see true love exhibited in our own times if we simply take a look at Barack and Michelle Obama.
They are a prolific and real life example of how a relationship can survive when the little things remain a constant. To them, their love is a daily celebration and they do not look for special occasions to do so. It happens naturally and they are extremely passionate about the real love that they share. A true relationship is not about the “bigger picture.” It is like a puzzle. You cannot complete it without the contribution of all of the small components.
Today, our perception of love tends to be very different. As mentioned, many relationships go through the honeymoon phase where everything is viewed through rose-colored glasses but, once that phase has ended, reality sets in, making things a bit tougher. We begin to see the relationship as a chore and, in doing so, the relationship begins to end just as quickly as it began. We should treat our relationship as our favorite rose bush. For it to thrive, it needs to be properly cared for. The friendships that we create are included in this too. They should be seen as a living and growing entity that needs love to survive.
Gomez and Morticia Addams have discovered this and it can be seen all throughout their relationship. Whether it be a random date or you simply letting your significant other know that you are thinking of them, these simple little practices could possibly make or break your union.
The Addams’ may not be your first pick when it comes to relationship goals but they should definitely be looked up to. A love as pure and as beautiful as theirs is something that we all crave but so very few of us will ever obtain it.
