Anatomy of a Greek

Choose what best suits you!

Animals play a big part in Greek life on IMVU. Greek organizations feature different aspects of the animal kingdom depending on their values as a whole, or as an image to be seen by many eyes.

The big thing for fraternities are having animals who represent ferocity, wisdom, power, and leadership. Taking an example, you see wolves who are about their packs and lead them to success, the gorilla who symbolizes strength and reincarnation, and of course, you have the wildcats - jaguars, cougars, panthers and tigers - who hold the patience for hunting and lone survival.

Sororities also play into the animalistic side of mascots by choosing animals that nurture and show guidance; a fraternity might have a tiger, while the feminine equivalent may have a white tiger to show the feminism of their organization. Softer animals, such as swans, are also used by sororities to represent beauty and grace amongst their peers, giving off the idea of, “forming from an ugly duckling” into a beautiful swan.

Greeks share a different complexity of the animal by making a lot of their founding principles from the traits of the animal they are choosing as their mascot. For example, to soar above all others, they may choose to associate to an animal that makes them the head of the food chain, or natural selection, intriguing them to pull in pledges.

So, to get to the key points of choosing a Greek that fits your personal pallet. Choose something that speaks volumes to you not just by sheer look alone. One must go past the mascot themes and look further into the organizations. What do they stand for? Would I be comfortable standing up for their values? What is their goals to reach as an organization? These are all important aspects to consider when looking for prospects. When you choose, choose what best suits you!
