Delta Tau Psi Sr Sis, Linka, was on IMVU one day when her niece randomly pulled her to a chat. When she entered the room she was greeted by her niece and a handsome stranger whom she originally wasn’t interested in. That didn’t stop Joey. She was perfection in his eyes. Some people would call it love at first sight. He charmed her with his conversation their entire time together. Everything was going so well that he even told their mutual friend that she was “The One.”
Linka saw how genuine and serious he was about being different to other guys. She started feeling him to the point she agreed to see him again.
Two weeks later, they went on their first date. Joey set up a romantic picnic; they sat and spoke, took pictures, got to know one another and enjoyed each other’s company. You can say the date was a success; They have been inseparable ever since! However, as you know with new love always comes hate; whether it was a bitter ex, or a family member hating. Some people just didn’t want to see them together. Folks were always trying to put a wedge between the couple and of course they failed because nothing can stop true love, not even the false-hearted. Linka gradually encouraged her new boo to join the brotherhood of her sorority, Omega Tau Psi (OTP) as she wanted her man by her side with everything they endeavored. He obliged and found a new home within OTP. They are now both Sr’s of the organization.
After months of dating the loving couple welcomed their first child, RJ. The bouncing baby boy was 6lb 8oz. With the new edition to the family, Joey and Linka’s love grew even stronger for one another that Joey proposed right before leaving for bootcamp in RL to serve our country in the National Guard.
Joey described the proposal as:
“I actually proposed around the time before I left for bootcamp. It was May 30th. I invited family and friends to a beach room with tables and candles. Once everyone was there, I pulled Linka. We all had dinner then walked this path and at the end we stopped, there were firecrackers that said, I love you. Will you marry me? I got down on one knee, she said yes and our tongues made love.”
Romantic right? The wedding was even more spectacular. It was a beautiful classic chapel wedding, the colors were red & white. The guest list was so big, half of the people invited had to view the wedding via a screen sharing program, JoinMe, just so everyone can load without crashing. Having everyone there to support their union in their own words made it even that more special.
One year, two children later plus the two daughter’s Linka had prior to meeting joey, the Rivera family is thriving and getting stronger than ever. If hearing this couple’s story taught me anything, it’s that you never know where true love is. It could be staring you right in your face. If you have a feeling about someone don’t pass them up to someone else; you just might be giving away your blessing.
