The International Women’s Museum

Moni, the President of Chi Gamma Pi Sorority, put together an International Women’s Museum. The purpose of it was to help and encourage women develop themselves there was no better way of doing that than showing them woman who have broke down barriers and walls to get to where they wanted to be and to allow women to be the person they inspire to be.

What was the selection process for the showcased women? Well we do "cycles". The cycles are changed bimonthly this is to give people enough to to come and visit. So far we have about 8 more cycles lined up and we are very open to any ideas anyone may have for more, but along with all the cycles we don’t actually have a strict process for people to be selected. We aim to find as many Nobel prize winners as possible. The current group of women we have on display all have one thing in common: politics and activism. We honestly fit as many as we have space for.

What were the intentions you had for this museum?

The intention was simply to make this kind of information accessible. Many people can name many men who have made great impacts in this world but the list of Household female’s name is greatly smaller in size. We wanted to make something that could really change that. The goal was that our pledge also study women's history some sort of way--this really killed two birds with one stone.

What were the expectations you had?

The expectations weren't really weighed, this was something we wanted to do for awhile and we just loved the whole concept. Even if it was just us here learning and discussing--that would've been enough. I just hope that every person comes here and takes away a bit more than just a name and a fact.

Were you at all anxious, or nervous to see how the IMVU community would react and receive such a philanthropic and enriching movement?

Not at all, we didn't really even expect this many people to take notice. Like I said earlier, this place was just an idea we had and loved and that's all that really mattered. The reaction has been super unexpected and greatly appreciated.

When the public took notice. How did you and your organization react? Honestly we were like "daaaamnn, seriously?!" that is literally everyone's phrase. It was exciting just because we knew people were really taking some out of this place. Someone knows a little more women's history or may be a little more inspired because of US. It's a great feeling.

What can we expect in the future from Chi Gamma Pi Sorority? Well this lovely little place will be constantly updated, but we also have many more ideas being bounced around. Everyone will just have to watch and see.
