Love is Colorblind

It is not something new to the public and it is something often glamorized in movies and TV shows. That’s right ladies and gents, I am talking about interracial love. Interracial love is a hot button issue all over the world. A lot of races do not want to mix children or they want the bloodlines to remain pure, so they try to steer the men and women of that race towards each other. There have been cases in which mothers and fathers have forbidden their children from marrying because of judgement. Why is it that interracial love gets such a bad name? We see it in movies, the black mothers yelling and screaming while patting thier weave and popping gum; using the money for child support on nails and new weaves. The white males who in the end objectify the women of color or turn them in because they believe that they are wrong. The secret love affairs between the cute tiny housewives and tanned pool boys.

Why is it that we portray these couples to be toxic or mentally and emotionally abusive? Interracial love is something that is beautiful and deserves to be cherished because not only is it the perfect example of two cultures coming together in the power of love, but it also showcases one of the best things: freedom. Freedom to choose who you love and how you love them, the freedom to show off your love and not be ashamed of who you are or how you feel. It shows a support system created by love that deserves to be cherished and showcased as something positive. Love is a taboo topic. Interracial love is almost completely hidden, but these couples should not have to hide how they feel for one another in fear of retaliation.

I understand that this is something that is hardly talked about on IMVU, but it does need to be mentioned. It is okay for men of other races to want women of other races and vice versa. Just because you are a race does not mean those are the only people you are allowed to fall in love with. Love has no rules and does not control anyone. Love is something that will give you the power to face the demons ahead when they come for you.

So if there is only one thing you take away from this article today, please take away that you love. Whether it be interracial, online, homosexual, or polygamous, it is your love and no one can take away the love you feel in your heart. Your heart is your own and no one can change, you deserve happiness no matter who you are or how you obtain it. Build a network of people you can talk to and find others who understand the struggles of interracial dating. In the end it doesn't really matter what color their skin is or what religion they are. If the love is there, then it is real and it is yours.
