New to Second Life? Here's 7 Steps!

Second Life can be so very confusing to learn, no matter how computer savvy you are, like most things it's a learning process and it takes time, dedication and patience to successfully learn how to use Second Life. Here are 7 steps to help you on your journey to and through Second Life.

Have at least $60 – $80 saved up to purchase Lindens (SL in-game currency) to get started;
Unless you have someone that you can ask for help, YouTube is the BEST place for beginners. Search for Strawberry Singh tutorials; she explains things for beginners in great detail;
Google Second Life blogs to find places to shop for clothing and furniture;
Do NOT buy Lindens from people unless you have confirmed that they are a well-known designer who has an SL Store and can prove HOW they earned the Lindens that they are selling. People, especially newbies, are getting scammed out of thousands of dollars each month by scammers promising to send L$ for real life currency;
Once you're ready to snap pictures and have your avatar set up how you want it, browse YouTube for tutorials on how to adjust your viewer settings and lighting so you can take beautiful and realistic pictures;
Make a Second Life Flickr and/or Facebook. Stay updated with the latest fashion and trending places to go on Second Life by signing up for one or both of these websites. Make sure to use hashtags such as #secondlife #secondlifeblogger to find more people like you, even if you don't blog or create. It's likely that people posting under this hashtag are SL members.
