A Verve X Magazine Exclusive: An interview with our very own Creative Director, SaintVx. He’s been in VXM for only 2 months now, but has shown great passion and ambition in what he does, as he is set to be the Managing Director of the newly established, Verve X Photography. Not only is he dedicated to Photography, but he also has a loving wife, with 5 amazing kids who he balances his time with. How does he manage?! VXM sits with him personally to find out more.

Hello and thanks for joining us today. How are you doing?

SaintVx: Pretty damn fantastic. Thanks for asking.

Tell us a little about yourself.

SaintVx: Well, I go by Saint or Ashton. I’m a father of five beautiful children, and as most of you know, I have a strong passion for photography. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to do what you love, everyday.

It is indeed. How did you get into photography?

SaintVx: Honestly, I procrastinated into it. I was always a fan of the art, especially on photostream; I would go on there daily to admire, like and comment on pictures. Then when I became a father, I started taking pictures of my children. I started with simple photos but then I knew I wanted to express more with every picture. It started as a hobby which turned into a passion.

That is impressive. How long have you been doing photoshoots?

SaintVx: For about 4 months now. My brother and his wife were my very first photoshoot for a Valentine’s Day theme in February. The rest became history.

What type of photography do you consider yourself to be the most into?

SaintVx: That’s a tough question for me because I love it all. I love to photograph events from the moment the decorations go up all the way to the last dance. I enjoy themed sessions with unique looks and amazing scenery. I also enjoy the simplicity of family portraits as well as the fierceness of fashion. It’s impossible for me to choose one kind; I just love it all.

So you could say you have an eye for art and just love capturing it, whatever it may be?

SaintVx: Yes, that pretty much sums it up.

SaintVx: Most definitely!

Seems like you have the ideal job. But with all jobs, comes some challenges. What challenges have you had to face?

SaintVx: It’s never anything I can’t handle. In the beginning I learned quickly that not every client is the same. Some are more demanding than others, some are uncooperative and yes, I’ve bumped heads with a few due to creative differences. I realized that my passion is like a treasure and sometimes I find I have to defend my point of view. Things are better now, and now that I have a large portfolio of my work, my clients know what I can do; they trust me more now than they did before.

How do you attract new clients?

SaintVx: Stream mostly. They see my work and contact me about photosessions. I’ve also done a couple of events already and so word of mouth helps also.

Now, we understand you have plans to expand your photography further. Can you share a little about that with us?

SaintVx: It’s a very exciting time for me because I’m always looking for ways to really get my work out there. I joined Verve X Magazine as Creative Director because I wanted another outlet to show off my work and another reason to really get creative. So far, I’ve been able to do that and meet some really awesome people along the way. Now we are taking it a step further by opening VX Photography. VX Photography is an official branch under Verve X Enterprise which will offer photography for events, fashion, family and photostream. It will be the go-to place for all of your photography needs.

That is excellent news, do you have anyone helping you on this new venture?

SaintVx: As of now, it’s only a one-man show. However, I am currently looking for interns who love photography as much as I do. I’m looking to expand my team and so I’m looking for passionate people who are ready to learn how to take amazing photos and add their own creative twists to them.

Are there any requirements for the job?

SaintVx: Willingness to learn, patience, and a love of photography.

Earlier, you mentioned that you are a father of 5, you work at Verve X Magazine and now, you are setting up VXP; How do you balance time between work and your personal life?

SaintVx: I allow myself days off from it all to spend time with my family. I also have an amazing wife and family who understands my passion for the art. Some of my kids are also getting into photography which is awesome for me.

Do you do anything other than photography on here?

SaintVx: Just snapping pictures and spending time with family and friends.

Are your photos edited?

SaintVx: Not at all. I use IMVU furniture for all of my photos and snap them with my IMVU camera. Everything you see can be found in shop.

That is amazing skills. Some people fail to realize that you can be really creative just on IMVU without editing. Do you think you’d ever get into editing?

SaintVx: I’ve dabbled a little bit, but honestly I enjoy this type of photography. Besides, most of my pictures already looked edited. You really can get creative by just using what you have in inventory.

Impressive indeed. What does your normal day look like?

SaintVx: I head off to the office. By office, I mean either my VX Photography office, or the beach, or the jungle or anywhere my photography takes me really. I try to do a photo session early in the morning to get my day really started. After a full days work of taking pictures, I just hang with my family.

Now, more onto the VX Photography. How did this idea come alive?

SaintVx: My dream job has always been to open my very own photography business. Photography is fun and easy to do, but I have never been the best at business itself. I have a lot to learn in that area. Verve X fills in that void for me. So after talking with Xvd about bringing this idea to life, I feel confident in expanding my business along with making Verve X bigger with more opportunities and fun in the workplace. Its definitely an exciting time for me.

What has been some accomplishments with your photography that you are the most proud of to this date?

SaintVx: There aren’t many physical rewards or trophies out there for my field, but earning the great comments of my happy clients is rewarding enough. I’ve also been on the Photostream recommended page quite a few times which has also been exciting.

Is there any specific goal you wish to accomplish with this new chapter of your photography?

SaintVx: The goal is always the same. Simply to keep my clients happy and to keep them coming back.

That’s well said. Are there any last comments you would like to share?

SaintVx: I’m really happy to be here to talk about something I truly love. Some awesome things are coming from VX Photography and I can’t wait to share them with you all.
