Watch your drink on St. Patrick’s

Informative facts on date rape & tips on drinking in public

With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, there are numerous pub crawls happening during this time; whether it’s the day of or the many days before and after. We need to remember to watch our drinks and be wary of St. Rick putting something in there that you didn’t necessarily order.

Remember..

Always have your drink in your hand. Don’t leave it unattended.

When someone orders you a drink, go with them and ensure you pick up the drink yourself.

Date Rape: Be Wary!

Date rape drugs are used on both females and males. There are several different types; the most common being GHB, often known as G, Gina or Liquid Ecstasy. It’s odorless, almost tasteless and it is out of your system 8 to 12 hours after consumption. Scary, right? That’s why it’s important to be cautious!

In 2016, there were one out of five date rape cases. If at any time, you suspect yourself of being a victim of date rape, don’t be ashamed - go to your nearest emergency care facility as soon as possible! Let them know to test you as the drug may still be in your system.

When you’re out and doing the pub crawl or drinking up at the bar this St. Patty's day, be careful of St. Rick.
