The Charmz Kids: Dance Team!

Going back to school isn’t just about learning; there are activities and clubs kids can join to have fun as well.

Charmz Dance Team was created by the Team Captain, NoviahDTA. in March. Although being a Captain was new to her, dancing was not. She loves being captain because it’s fun; she likes coming up with routines and competing against other dance teams. She also loves making new friends and although it’s challenging at times, it keeps them busy. NoviahDTA was on previous teams before she started her own dance team. She was on the “best of the best” but she noticed that they were unfair and disliked their ways, so she went on to make her own team, Charmz Dance Team! Noviah recently recruited a Dance Coach over a month ago, and is proud of her new team. They won a few competitions which shows that she’s doing something right and she’ll continue to progress.

Morella, the coach for the girls Dance team said that she wanted to be a part of an IMVU organization that offers kids with a fun activity to participate in. She brainstormed many ideas until one day, the idea of a dance team hit her, then BOOM! That’s when she was asked to be the coach of Charmz Dance Team, and accepted Noviah’s offer. Morella is in charge of 12 kids on the dance team, and says it requires a lot of patience. She says she can be very patient especially when it’s her name on the line. She considers herself a perfectionist. Morella explains that they just added three more girls to the team after tryouts, so working with 12 girls can be really stressful. Of course, not everyone gets along, and you have to teach new girls the old routines, and make sure no bullying is happening, but Morella says she wouldn’t trade it for anything. She loves all her girls and there is no bullying and disrespect that goes on. Morella describes how each and every girl has a unique personality and they all work hard which is seen in their routines. She aims to give individual attention and feedback so the dancers feel acknowledged and they build a more personal bond.

Morella did a tryout recently to get more diverse girls and boys on the team, and as they have a large team now, they will not be having anymore tryouts for some time. However, as there is only one boy on the team, she will be making exceptions for boys who wish to join!

They have practice on a daily basis, unless there is an emergency or an event/competition. They try to keep creativity in their routines; they incorporate dances from around the world, and wear unique costumes to fit their theme. The dancers are aged between 3-5 years old.
